Well, here we are at the beginning of a new season and I think most of the members will agree that it has been a really good start.
The Men's friendly game away at Fry's on Saturday was all they could wish for – it was a beautiful warm, sunny day, the green was excellent and to top it all, our Men won! Well done, chaps, let's keep it up!
President's Day on Sunday was brilliant, the weather was cloudy and a bit chilly, but luckily the rain held off. It was great to see so many bowlers and spectators there and I think everyone who came would agree that they had a great afternoon. It was really nice to see so many new members out there on the green having a go – hopefully, we shall be seeing a lot more of you all during the season.
After the game, we were treated to a wonderful tea, thanks to Sue, Lyn, Doris, Pat and Beverly for all their hard work, it went down really well after all that fresh air.
President Val then expressed her thanks to all who helped with the afternoon and to all those who have worked so hard on the green and maintenance work during the 'off' season. She then presented the prizes. The Spider was won by Ken Woodham, the competition winners were Tony Goodridge and Mary Harston, while the much sought-after wooden spoons went to Anne Woodham and Brian Holmes.
Don't forget to put your names down for all the competitions – Captains Mike and Anne have already put up lots of game sheets, so let's give them all our support! For anyone interested, the Ladies' game on Thursday, 25th April has been cancelled, so there will be a roll-up afternoon for any member needing a bit of practice.
