Last December, we reported in The Journal that four of Prattens' members won a tournament at Warner's Hayling Island resort.

The players who entered were Margaret and Roy Harvey, along with Pauline and Barrie Dando. As a result of this success, the four players won a new bowls bag each and an invitation to take part in this October's Champion of Champions tournament.

This latest tournament consisted of a mini-league,

followed by a knockout stage with a total of 29 teams

taking part. There was an initial draw to determine who played in what league, with our team being in one of the larger groups, but they won through the league and took part in the knockout stages, including beating the rink who had been the winners for the two previous years, reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The quarter-final proved to be a very close game, but the Prattens quartet eventually lost the match by one shot. The prize for reaching this stage was a very respectable £200 between the four players. Our congratulations go to them all for a very commendable performance.
