After the success of the pro am, the Farrington Park Open Week continued with the Ladies Open held on 21st July on a lovely summer's day. The format of the day was a Four Ball Better Ball, full handicap with three scores to count. There were prizes for home and visitor teams and to add extra interest, there were skill prizes – nearest the pin on the par three with the tee shot, plus ball prizes for two spots.

The overall winners were Farrington Park's own Gail Proctor, Jackie Walker, Sharman Bradshaw and Angela Hudd with 122 points. The first visitor's prize was won by Sylvia Blackwell, Jenny Scarf, Janet Towers and Sue McCloud from Sherborne Golf Club with 112 points. Second visitor's prize was won by Meredith Christopher, Sarah Tatchell, Angela Heysham and Jackie Hooker also from Sherborne with 107 points. The first Farrington Park team were Peggy Edwards, Heather Woodland, Gill Russell and Caroline Laws with 121 points. Second Farrington Park Team were Clare Salter, June Symonds, Maureen Charlton and Pauline Young with 117 points and the third Farrington Park team were Jean Sage, Mary Hobbs, Carol Jones and Pat Roscow with 116 points. There were five 2 spots achieved by Kathy Shiells, Min Woodward, Pauline Young, Jackie Hooker (visitor) and Mandy Hobbs. Nearest the pins were on the 8th hole Silver division Maureen Charlton, on the 10th Silver division Dawn Stacey, on the 5th Bronze Carol Knoll (visitor) and on the 15th Bronze Min Woodward.

The overall winners of the Farrington Park Ladies Open, were Angela Hudd, Jackie Walker, Lady Captain, Min Woodward, Sharman Bradshaw and Gail Proctor.

Wednesday was the turn of the seniors with the Seniors Open Bowmaker. A record entry of 52 teams of 3 players played in tricky conditions with many players finding the fast greens a good test. Two members' teams managed to score 83 points with the team of Richard Dancey, Philip Michael and Nigel Savage winning on the best back six holes from the team of Brian Brown, Robert Chappell and Graham Marsh. The teams from Tracy Park fared the best of the visitors taking first, third and fourth places.

The unseasonably bad weather unfortunately meant Friday's Individual Stableford and Sunday's Mixed Open had to be cancelled and postponed to an alternative date. However, in between the Friday and Sunday rain, glorious sunshine brightened the Men's Open Bowmaker on Saturday.

Another record entry of 224 players competed in the best two from four Stableford Bowmaker competition. Teams started at 7 a.m. with the last team playing at 3.30 p.m. The 7.08 a.m. tee time members' team of Lee Francis, John Chedgy, Jamie Webb and Phil Bray held the lead with 89 points most of the day. It wasn't until 7 p.m. that the third last team of Andy Crowley, Alan Hale, Mark Bales and Nigel Jones came in with a score of ninety points pipping the leaders by a point for the overall win.

Men's Saturday Stableford, 18th July: With the course looking in great condition, good scores were coming into the clubhouse with John Chedgy top of Division One with forty points followed closely by Andy Nicholls on 38 points with Martin Walker in third spot with 36 points.

In Division Two, Howard McCulloch-Wicks had a great day at the office with 41 points topping the division with Paul Smith in second with forty points and Ian Lake in third with 39 points.
