Paulton were unlucky not to come away with a point and should have had a late penalty.
A lively start, saw Rovers keeper Aaron Sainsbury save smartly from Luke Prynn, and Kyle Tooze shot held by home keeper Josh Oak.
A left wing corner by Will Harvey led to Ed Butcher’s cross find Tooze who headed wide. Butcher then curled over the bar. Tooze then chipped over the cross bar.
Ed Harrison broke through for Tavistock, lobbed Sainsbury, and was thankful for Dan Dempsey clearing off the line. Tooze then has a shot cleared off the line, after a home defender appeared to handle the ball with the referee waving aside the appeals.
On the restart, Callum Watson curled a volley over the bar and in response James Byrne did the same as Rovers pressed.
In the 70th minute former Liverpool trainee Taylor Scarff header was held by Sainsbury, but 2 minutes later a long ball from Scarff saw Prynn race on and slide the past the Rovers keeper.
Martin Lenihan hit a firm drive well tipped over by Oak, who then saved well from Harvey.
Harvey was then hauled down the area, and to the surprise of the Paulton team the referee again waved play on.
Tavistock engaged in a lot of game management, which paid off and the referee added hardly any additional time.
