Paulton continued their unbeaten run with a workmanlike performance against Didcot Town last Saturday. Josh Klein-Davies opened the scoring for Rovers on thirteen minutes, heading home Brandon Barnes' free kick from the right wing. He made it 2–0 after 39 minutes. Right back, Ryan Batten, took a free kick on the halfway line which was headed down by Scott Brice into the path of JKD who tucked the ball in the net.
Dean Evans was working tirelessly in midfield creating attacks, bursting with energy up and down the pitch and winning the ball and supporting the Paulton defence.
Rovers made it 3–0 in the seventieth minute when Ben Lacey broke down the left wing, cut inside and laid the ball to substitute, Nick McCootie, to drive a low shot past home keeper, Alex Williams.
'The Railwaymen' pulled a goal back with three minutes remaining from a superb strike 25 yards out by Michael McKirnan, which flew past Paulton keeper, Lewis Pierre.
Rovers retained second place at least until Tuesday this week when Merthyr Town are home to Wimbourne Town and should the Welshmen win, Paulton will go into Saturday's game in third place with North Leigh just one place behind. This Saturday will see a promotion thriller when North Leigh come to Winterfield Road, kick-off 3 p.m. with a bumper crowd expected. Man of the Match: Dean Evans (Paulton Rovers).
