The spoils were shared as Norton snatched a late draw with a fantastic try for Lewis Dyer.

Norton raced into an early lead in this tough Away fixture, after Jack Packer crossed the whitewash after a spell of early pressure. This was soon extended when Kemar Stewart scored a fine solo run, swatting away defenders and successfully getting the ball down over the line.

However, this was never going to be an easy fixture, and a back-and-forth first half ensued. First Old Reds got themselves on the scoreboard back with a try of their own, before flanker Scott Anderson broke free to restore Norton’s lead.

With this, Johnson slotted his second conversion with their third of the half. Again, Old Reds bounced back, creating overlaps out wide, and by half-time Norton’s lead was cut to just two points.

Playing up the hill in the second half, a physical affair remained scoreless until late in the half. A box kick from Old Reds bounced horribly for the Away side into the hands of their onrushing Number Eight, and with the try converted Norton trailed by five, with just minutes to go.

All was not done, however, and after good work from Stewart, Lewis Dyer picked the ball up on his own and managed to bamboozle the weary defence to score a sensational try at the death.

Norton remain in a strong position in the league, despite a bruising run of fixtures, and will look to head into the Christmas break on a high note, Away to Bristol Telephones next weekend.
