On their final Away trip, the Seconds recorded their biggest win of the season with a ten-try victory at Shaft Road.
For the opening ten minutes, Norton held a numerical advantage and raced into the lead. Both sides soon had a full complement of players, but the Away side continued to dominate and wrapped the bonus point up midway through the first half. The Away side’s new winger, Ben Palmer, stole the show with his strong running and scored a hat-trick of tries on just his third appearance, the last of which scored on one leg as he hopped his way to the line, in a tired attempt to avoid a jug. There were also notable performances from fly-half, Luke Murphy, who added a mesmerizing try to his seven conversions and Andrew Davis, who scored just hours after landing from his honeymoon.
To their credit, Oldfield stuck at the fixture and made the game difficult where possible, but the Away side were relentless and ultimately made the scoreline emphatic. Packer and Forse both scored after extremely well-timed backs moves, whilst Dan Massey scored after some superb link-up play with his fellow forwards. Towards the end of the match, Silk and Knight effortlessly traded the roles of creator and finisher to complete the scorer.
The Seconds will now complete the season with two home fixtures and the aim of finishing inside the top three.
