The Thirds began their season with a trip to Trowbridge on Saturday for their first Bath Merit table fixture.
The game was an excellent contest, with both sides scoring five tries each in an entertaining game. Norton had a wide mix of age and abilities, with eight colts and three players over fifty in their ranks.
Trowbridge started the stronger, and pulled a try clear before Norton responded almost immediately. Scrum half, Greg Morgan, scored when he raced over following some good work from the pack.
Trowbridge then scored two further tries before Norton pegged them back. This time, it was hooker, Ronnel Tayag, who went over after a prolonged period of pressure.
Shortly after, full back, Fraser Collins, showed his pace to find the open spaces and his kick ahead was gathered by centre, Aydan Hillman, for his first Senior try in Norton colours.
The game was evenly poised at half-time, but Trowbridge started the second half the strongest to restore their lead.
Back came Norton when Morgan and then Hillman both registered their second tries of the game to build a healthy lead. Jon Swift even added a conversion which almost sealed it for the visitors, before Trowbridge scored a late try to take the win.
Both sides can be very happy with their performance and Norton now look forward to Saturday, when they host Avonvale at Norton Down, kick-off at 3 p.m.
