With Temple Cloud’s First XI rearranging their fixture to watch the World Cup, our Second Xl took centre stage, entertaining Churchill at a parched and brown Stowey Road.

Temple won the toss and batted with Spike Wilton (39) and Alex Comer (33) making a confident start. On their dismissal, two other wickets fell cheaply, but a hard-hitting 55 from Tom Isles and a more sedate 39 from Richard Appleyard gave the momentum back to the home side. The tail could not take full-advantage, but Will Withers (twenty run-out) saw Temple to a comfortable score in the heat. Kyran Gale (2–36) and Oli Masters (3–48) were Churchill’s top bowlers.

In reply, Churchill’s top four all reached the twenties, but could not go on to higher scores. Spike Wilton impressed with 2–34, but it was to be Will Withers’ day, claiming 5–38.

A late flurry of runs from ex-Temple player, Kyran Gale, (32 not-out), caused concern, but with Will being helped by the spin of Dan Raisbeck, the home side ran out winners by fifty runs.

The club would like to thank Mil Tu Fit and Venture Insurance for their valued sponsorship.
