THE much-anticipated Nunney International Horse Trials returns from June 13 to 15, promising three thrilling days of top-level eventing at Southfield House near Frome, by kind permission of Mrs Angela Yeoman.
Firmly established on the British eventing calendar, family-friendly Nunney attracts top-level international riders as well as grassroots competitors. Nearly 600 horse and rider combinations are expected to compete across a packed schedule that showcases the very best of the sport. Sponsors include Hopkins and Kingsland who support the international classes, and new to the team are Succeed Equine and Orchardleigh Estate.
Bridget Parker, who won team gold for Great Britain at the 1972 Munich Olympics and now organises the event, said:“We’re so looking forward to Nunney and expect a high calibre of entries at this popular event. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the Somerset countryside, watch horses and riders at their best, and soak up the atmosphere and camaraderie of this wonderful sport. We hope to see you at Nunney.”
Cross country course designer Helen West, who returns as the course designer this year, said: “It’s great to be back designing the course at Nunney with all tracks a fair test at their respective level making use of the deceptively undulating terrain and are suitable for those stepping up to the level, whilst also having enough to jump for those more established at the level in question, making Nunney ideally positioned in the calendar to satisfy a multitude of needs.”
The event opens on Friday 13th June with intermediate classes and international dressage, followed by BE100 and Novice classes on Saturday. Sunday features the prestigious CCI2-S and CCI3-S international sections**, which often attract riders preparing for major summer events.
New for 2025, the schedule includes classes for young talent, with dedicated sections for Under 18s and Under 21s, and Pony Trial classes, for future stars.
