The Somer Valley Tennis Club Championship finals culminated in a wonderful day of tennis for all the finalists and club members who came to watch on the indoor courts at Writhlington Sports Centre.

Having had numerous events run in September by Patrick Lodge with a record number of club members participating, the club hosted a wonderful day run by so many amazing volunteers - it was a testament to the growing popularity of what the tennis club has to offer in the Somer Valley area.

Well done to all our winners, returning this year after a covid hit 2022, the junior final events all ran alongside the adults, so eleven finals were contested in one day. Congratulations to Oswin Bakker (U16 singles), Karin Dolak, aged 11 (U14 singles) and Christian Lilleyfoot with partner Oswin (U16 doubles) for their amazing contribution to the day.

Off court awards for Bernard Pendle club member went to Darren Thompson, and Stonier Hobbs volunteer of the year were presented to the membership secretary Neil Scott. The junior award went to Oliver Aldred and the Mini of the Year to Finn Bradley.

Thank you to our sponsors Scott Construction, Biznus Payroll and the Hunt Family.

James Brocksopp, Tournament Organiser said, “What a fantastic day it was and really showcases the best of what the Club can offer. The quality of the matches today were a very high standard and congratulations to the members that took part, we must also say thank you to volunteer member Oli Bell who took thousands of photos on the day taking some amazing shots, if you are interested to see any of these, please go to our Facebook page”.
