Saturday was the first time that the Norton 1st team has played at the Bradford on Avon ground and they were greeted with a strong wind blowing straight down the length of the pitch.

The visitors started the game with the wind at their backs and hoped to take advantage of both the slope and weather. Norton had the majority of the possession and the territory, but were unable to play with the fluidity of the week before, passes were dropped and moves rushed. They were unable to breach the very flat, but adjudged on side, defensive line of the home team.

The half finished with Norton giving away a penalty right on the Bradford try line, when adjudged to have not let the defending player regain his feet. The only score of the half was a penalty by fly half, Ben Taylor, giving Norton a three point lead.

Norton started the second half expecting to be bombarded by kicks, so the pack set about depriving the Bradford team of ball. But soon after the restart, while contesting hard in the breakdown, Norton conceded a penalty, which allowed Bradford to level the score with a penalty from their centre.

This seemed to spur Norton on and they started to get behind the initial defensive line, producing some good, go forward ball. This allowed Norton's strong runners, Denning, Mitchard, Edgell, Button and Miller, to quicken up the game and start stretching the retreating Bradford team. Trying to stop these concerted attacks eventually resulted in the home side's No 7 being yellow carded, now playing against fourteen, Norton took complete control of the game.

The tries started to come, the first when Ross Millers' outstretched arm allowed him to dot the ball down over the line, then Mitchard, now playing in the centre, burst through to score another. Captain Denning added another from the back of a driving maul. Another sweeping move saw Mitchard kick through and full back, Abbott, was able to beat the defenders to fall on the ball scoring in the corner. Mitchard was now enjoying the space and after a break, fed his Captain, Denning, who drew the defence before passing to Jamie Rose for his first 1st team try and the side's fifth.

The game ended in some confusion, with the referee uncertain of the final score, but it was eventually decided that it was 28–3 in the favour of Midsomer Norton.
