The winning visitors team came from Enmore/Long Sutton who scored eighty points. Second were a team from Tracey Park/The Players with seventy nine and in third place were a Lyme Regis team with seventy seven. Best home team were Steve Turner/Henry Banks/John Ellis with seventy seven and best home/visitor team was David Jukes with partners from Brokenhurst and The Burley.

The 4BBB Captain’s Trophy saw fifty three pairings and some excellent scoring. In third place with a net sixty four were John and Andrew Shakesby beaten on count back by Phil Leadbeater and Rob Cook. Winning with a fine 61 were Ian Hall, playing off three, and his partner Douglas Woodman. The Mid Week Stableford went to Paul Jamieson with 34 points with Michal Rokitowski second on count back from Julian Redpath with 33 points.

Nearest the Pin also went to Paul Jamieson with Scott Butland second and Kevin Carmody third.

Eleven-year-old, Alec Roberts was selected for a friendly match for Somerset Juniors against Gloucestershire.

The Ladies enjoyed success in their Rogers Cup match, a Somerset County Competition when Non Playing Captain, Aimee Sawyer saw her Team win 4-3 against Oake at Weston. Fine wins came from Ellen Reakes, Fran Davies, Jenny Merrett and Edwina Willis.

The Ladies Friendly team commenced their match against Sherborne in a hail storm. However, everyone agreed to continue and the weather cleared so that the Sherborne Ladies could appreciate the fine views from all over the course. Sherborne came out on top with Mendip’s win coming from Louise Scott and Dee Garnsworthy.

Forty ladies played in a variety of events this week, The County Medal qualifying event was won by Jo Espley with a net 74 beating Elaine P Richardson on count back. The County qualifying Stableford was won by Chris Down with an excellent 39 points with Val Dixon second with 37 and Louise Scott third with 34 and the 9 hole event went to Maggie Brain with 18 points with Libby Bellew second with 17.

The Seniors Rosebowl team played Mendip Spring in the second round of the county competition. After a very close match, Mendip were victorious 3½-1½ with wins from Ian Perkins/John Ellis, Ian Hall/David Braithwaite, Chris Lindley/Simon Wynn with Martin Myers/Bryan Lewis gaining a half.

The Seniors Friendly team entertained Burnham who brought a strong team with three players with handicaps of three or lower. With the course in fine fettle, Mendip were narrowly defeated 3-4. Mendip’s wins came from Captain Steve Davis/Nigel Cheshir, Pete Rumming/Paul Ashman and Tony Scott/Rob Richardson who won the final three holes to achieve their win one up.
