Mendip Thirds travelled to Warminster for a pre-season friendly on Saturday. With a number of players missing, due to work and family commitments, Captain, Emma Moffat, was pleased to welcome some guesting West Wilts players into the Mendip fold.
An evenly-matched first period saw Mendip’s Eva Pearce making some super tackles and passes at right back, while fellow youngsters, Freya Harding and Abby Sage, ran their socks off in the West Wilts half.
Wilts took the lead in the second half, with Mendip guest star, Liv, immediately striking back to level for the visitors. Sarah Pearce came close to scoring a second for Mendip, with a fierce strike that rattled off the post.
Despite the best efforts of Mendip keeper, Carrie Tiley, two well-taken goals in the final ten minutes gave Wilts the victory.
