With our first rink finishing three shots down, it was left to the second rink who were level on the last end. The Skip, Jim Jones had the last wood and were one down to a Clevedon wood sitting next to the Jack. With nerves of steel, Jim played his wood, took the shot out cleanly and Purnell picked up four shots to win overall by one shot. What a finish.

Our ladies County Fours team of Jane Gullick, Jan Palmer, Ann Toogood and Chris Godfrey have reached the semi-finals and play at RBL Portishead next Saturday, 16th July. Good luck ladies.

Our ladies played away to Prattens in the Wild league on Thursday and came away with a good win.

A mixed bag of results for our men’s league this week. In The MSL on Wednesday, the ‘A’ team won away to Frome Selwood, whilst the ‘B’ team lost on all rinks to Norwest.

Our mixed MSL travelled to Keynsham on Friday, losing on two rinks and drawing on the third to come away with only one point. All three Saturday Somerset league teams played with our ‘A’ team home to RBL Portishead losing 2-10.

Our ‘B’ team were also home to Bloomfield ‘B’ and won on all rinks for maximum twelve points maintaining our unbeaten run.

The ‘C’ team played at Keynsham and came away with a creditable two points considering the team is made up of several new players learning the game.

Our last game of the week was a very pleasant mixed friendly against Chew Stoke. Although a little hot, it was played in the most wonderful atmosphere and ended in ‘Draw’.
