The Drive In saw an outstanding winning score from the best men’s team: Mark Necker/Stephen Cox/Nick Cox/Stefan Golledge with 94 points well clear of second placed Nick Inskip/Seniors’ Captain Steve Davis/Robert Miller/Alan Kay with 87 points one ahead of Robert Ware/Brian Rawlings/Stephen Coate/Paul Wood. Best Ladies team with 86 points were Sarah James/Anita Butcher/Phillipa Brown/Lyn Jones, with in second place with 84 points Connie Cox/Ffion Richardson/Helen Roberts/Elanor Richardson.

The League season is now underway and the Avalon C Team opened their account with an excellent 4–1 win over Brean. Winning pairs were Scott Butland/Tom Black, Dean Lewer/Malcolm Srawley, Danny Annabel/David Graham and David Cox/Clive Copp.

41 Ladies played in the 18 hole Stableford event. Winning Division One by a clear margin was Jinhee Page, with 35 points, with Chris Olds second after a triple tie with 28 points. Division Two was won by Alison Kay with a best score of the day 38 points, one shot ahead of Sandie Roper. Divison Three went to Ladies’ Captain, Allison Rumming, with 36 points well clear of second placed Ann Padley with 32 points.

The Ladies’ Inter Club Team opened their campaign with a hard fought 4–3 win over Worlebury, the match played in 40 mile per hour winds. So well done, ladies. Successful for Mendip were Anita Butcher, Susy Rudkin, Diane Stanton and Dee Garnsworthy.

The Seniors held a Singles Stableford which saw 86 competing in very difficult playing conditions. Division One went to Shaun Rich, with 34 points, leaving Paul Merrett second on countback with Alan O’Leary a point back on 33 again after countback. Division Two saw the best card of the day with Andy Parfitt winning with 37 points, John Treeby was second with 35 and David Collins third with 34. The Veterans’ prize went to Michael Anderson with 36 points with a young looking Martin Wilkins second with 33 on countback from an even younger looking Mike Snaith.

The Seniors welcomed Saltford who found the very strong winds a little too testing, resulting in a fine 5–2 win for new Seniors’ Captain Steve Davis to open his account with. Wins came from Roland Greenaway/John Brooksbank, Gareth Collier/John Ellis, Steve Davis/Robert Miller, Nigel Cheshire/Malcolm Dawkins and Andy Griffiths/Norman Squire. It was good to see new faces with Roland, Gareth and Andy Humphries all making their first appearances for the team.
