Wells Ladies’ Alliance team recorded an emphatic 12-2 victory at home to Mendip Spring to ensure the team remain in Division Three of the Bristol & District league.
Sixteen Wells ladies took part on a wet and windy day in the Daphne Pring Granny cup and the winner (and a granny) on countback with 36 points was Jane Tucker.
Congratulations to Gary Nutt who won the Tweedale Trophy on countback from Mark Stainer with nett 68s.
Wells Senior Men played Wheathill GC in the final of the Seniors Somerset Bowl at Weston-Super-Mare Golf Club on a dull, at times very wet, September day, winning 3-2 to notch up their third victory in five years. The Seniors September medal saw Graham Bingham lead division one with an excellent gross 81, nett 63. Terry Searle won division two with a splendid gross 87, nett 66.
The Men’s Senior 4BBB Open was held on a changeable day meaning the later players had the best of the conditions. Anthony J Smith and Eugen Kupich (Stockwood Vale GC) had an excellent 47 points and their partners John Sharpe (Bath GC) and Robert Price (Burnham and Berrow GC) had 44 points.
Wells A (Nick Carter, Bill McCollum, Ian Nicol and Mike Vincent) were runners up in the Mens Trounson Trophy held at Mendip GC winning the Windwhistle Trophy. Club night was won by Peter Lewis with a 12 hole score of 30 points.
