Westfield Petanque Club entered three teams in this year’s Wells Charity Boules Tournament.

Wells market square is magically transformed, with twenty piste on which 48 teams compete, in ‘friendly’ rivalry. The day is brilliantly organised by the Rotary Clubs of Avalon and Wells, raising money for the Nepal Trust. Having enjoyed a breakfast of coffee and croissants, play starts at 9.30 a.m., and continues throughout the day, until about 5.30 p.m.. A superb lunch was provided by The Crown, the sun shone, the jazz band played, the cathedral bells rang, all adding to an amazing atmosphere. Did we win? No. Did it matter? Not in the slightest. Here’s to next year.

If you would like to join in a friendly game of boules on a Tuesday evening, then join us at 6 p.m., Norton Hill Recreation Ground.
