THE festive season has come and gone and while there has been a mixture of extreme weather the fairways at Mendip Golf Club have remained busy and there has been competition for those who wanted it.

More than 100 played in the Pro Shop Stableford in mid-December and resulted in a tight finish. Winning with 39 points was Paul Goddard after count back from Alexander Bennett with Ryan Sainsbury 3rd with 38 after count back from Nigel Coleman. John Russell was 5th with 37 after count back from Chris White.

The Pro Shop Stableford on the 19th December saw a win for Jeremy Lawrence with 37 points, Gareth Collier was 2nd with 36, Paul Cairns was 3rd with 34 and Anita Butcher was 4th with 33 after count back from Tom Young.

Eighty-four played in the Pro Shop Texas Scramble which saw a win for Geoff Collard/David Golledge/Stefan Golledge/Roland Greenway with a net 56 but this was only after count back from two other teams, William Burns/Adrian Cross/Mark Redwood/Tom Young and Sam Brown/Ashley Drew/Craig Drew/Keiran Wiltshire. In 4th place were Steven Baker/James Darby-Jones/Peter Grafton/Ham Ridene with 57 after count back from Cameron Elliott/Tim Flagg/Nick Hodges/James Richards.

For many years the day after Boxing Day has seen ‘Dickie’s Christmas Bash’ take place organised by long standing member Richard Jeffrey. This year 88 played and the winners were Mitchell Rose/Paul Rose/Jack Vowell/Darrin Vowell with 79 points. In 2nd place came Steve Catley/James Brake/Steven Baker/Ham Ridene with 78 and in 3rd place were Clayton Merrett/Jack Cook/Ben Park/Timothy Cook with 76 after count back from Brian Rawlings/Stephen Coate/Richard Gumbleton/Lewis Gumbleton.
