The Alliance team played at home to Bristol and Clifton and won 10-4.

This week also saw the Women In Golf Challenge Cup played for the first time. This cup is open to ladies without a handicap who have been participating in the Women in Golf programme at Wells and was played from the blue tees over nine holes. The winner was Shirley Eden with a gross score of forty eight, pictured here being presented with the trophy by Katrina Foote, Wells ladies’ Captain.

On a beautiful May day, ninety three entrants played in the Tweedale Stableford.

A lovely level par round of seventy by Cameron Allen (thirty nine points) was not enough to win Division One as a forty three-pointer from Toby Cole (who will no longer be thumping it miles off ten) took the honours.

In Division Two, an equally good forty two from Mark Robinson won and the one-to-watch, Graham Williamson with thirty six points brought in Division Three.

The men’s team played their opening match in the Rose Bowl away at Worlebury and suffered a very narrow 2-3 defeat with the deciding match going to the fourth extra hole.

Wells Seniors 2022 campaign in the Somerset Seniors` Bowl began with a match against Kingweston GC at Wells which was won 3-2.

The team then visited Enmore Park and beat them 4-1 and will now play Mendip in the quarter final.

The Senior Men’s Packers Cup was won by John Collings and Peter Leverick with a score of forty five points.

The Junior Stableford was won by Henry Lewer with a score of thirty nine points.

Club night was won by Paul Williams with a twelve-hole score of twenty eight points. Guy Timson
