Katie Chun organised the event, which saw people coming from far and wide to either donate cakes or buy a slice of cake to take away.

Katie said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to support our cake sale. I felt quite emotional putting the cakes out, thinking how scared and sad those living in Ukraine must be.

“Thanks to the support of the wonderful people of Peasedown St John, we raised a massive £864.17 – all of which will be sent to Ukraine through the Red Cross Appeal.

“Make cake, not war!”

Peasedown St John, like other communities in the local area, has rallied together to raise funds and send donations to the people of Ukraine. As well as The Hive, the village primary school, local churches and businesses have all played their part in ‘doing their bit’ to support those in need.

The Hive is located next to Peasedown St John Primary School on Bath Road, BA2 8DH.

The building is also home to the Community Library, village Post Office and Swallow Café.
