**Update**It is reported that the road is now open in both directions and that the bus service is returning to normal. *****************************************************Update from Avon and Somerset Police**Avon and Somerset Police has tweeted that although the road remains closed at the moment to general traffic in both directions, buses have been allowed to leave the depot, so a partial service can resume. ****************************************************B&NES Council is warning commuters into Bath to find alternative routes into the city this morning, with the closure of the A36 following a fatal accident at around 3 am.
A spokesperson for the Council said: "Buses are disrupted as the road closure involves access to the bus depot in Lower Bristol Road, Bath. First Bus will have the most up-to-date information on the bus services.
"Limited Park and Ride bus services are operational this morning and Park and Ride sites are open. Council engineers are on site and checking all traffic signals in the area to help ease traffic flow. Highways have arranged messages for the VMS network and signals engineers are watching traffic volumes to minimise congestion.
"However, we expect the roads to be very congested this morning, as more people travel by car into the city. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes into Bath this morning, if at all possible."
Bus services 172, 173 and 174 are expected to not be affected, with reports that GWR is accepting bus tickets on journeys between Bristol and Bath.
