Four people have been taken to hospital, with one reportedly in a serious condition at Southmead, after a minibus carrying students from St Gregory’s School, crashed into a tree on the A367, just past Odd Down, on Monday afternoon this week.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the scene shortly after 3.20 p.m., with three fire crews from Bath then called to cut free five people trapped in the bus, reportedly three children and two adults.

The Great Western Air Ambulance was called to the scene, with reports of a male patient then taken to Southmead Hospital. It is thought one other patient may have been taken to Southmead Hospital, with the others treated at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.UPDATE: Five people were taken to hospital in total, four of whom are thought to be pupils at St Gregory's Catholic School, Bath, and the driver, who police have described as having had an 'unforseeable medical episode'. It is reported that he is no longer in a serious condition and none of the children suffered life-threatening injuries and are receiving support.The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, told us that four ambulance crews were sent to the scene; a specialist paramedic, an ambulance commander, a Hazardous Area Response Team of six paramedics, the Air Ambulance Critical Care team, two critical care teams by road and two off-duty members of staff.
