Fifty crochet and knitted comfort blankets are being donated by the Radstock Knitters, who have been busy with needles and wool for Project Linus.

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit-making organisation. It is their mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort through the donation of new, homemade and washable quilts and blankets to babies, children and teenagers who are sick, disabled, traumatised or disadvantaged.

Project Linus UK is run completely by volunteers and no money donated is spent on administration, with quilts given to the families to keep at no cost to themselves.

The finished quilts and blankets are being given to the Neo-natal Unit in the RUH, the Children’s Wards in local hospitals, the Children’s Hospice in Wraxall, Barnardo’s and other groups. They are also making bonding sheets and incubator covers for the NICU. The quilts and blankets are for the patients and families to keep.

The quilts and blankets are only made because of the kind donation of materials or money to buy materials, thread and wadding. If you are interested in helping, please get in touch with Linda McGregor at [email protected] The website, projectlinusuk.org.uk also has lots of information about the charity and can be found on Facebook – Project Linus-Bath, Wells and surrounding areas. Linda McGregor said: “I cannot thank the Radstock Knitters enough for their contribution to Project Linus. Ladies, your generosity is unbelievable, thank you all very much. They will all be well loved.”

Jenny Prowse, Founder and Organiser of the Radstock Knitters, said: “I am grateful for all of the hard work that the ladies put in to all of the projects that we support. Every Saturday that we meet, all of these creations appear as if from nowhere! It is a lovely group and new members are always welcome.”

If you would like to join the group and contribute to any of the ongoing projects or just want to learn to knit, then email: [email protected]. The group meet every other Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Radstock Methodist Church.

The next meeting is Saturday, 14th April.
