The subject was The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Garden.

We had an overwhelming reply with two hundred and twenty seven children entering from two local schools, St. Mary’s, Writhlington and Trinity Church School, Radstock.

The three independent judges had to narrow the field down to forty eight of which only two winners could be chosen.

Both of the winners came from Trinity Church School with the 0 - 6 years winner being Jessica Rumming and for the 7 -11 years winner being Hope Woodford. They both received art sets as a prize but there were certificates awarded to runners up in both schools.

The forty eight finalists are now being exhibited at Radstock Library and we are inviting members of the public to vote for their favourite. The winner for this will be announced later on.

We decided that we would like to award a prize to both the schools and so we approached Radstock Cooperative and asked if they would sponsor the school’s with the help of The Pot Gang, from Radstock, to supply them with seed boxes every month for a year.

Thank you to The Pot Gang and Don Morris for agreeing to help out with the prizes so that the children can now grow their own vegetables, learn all about them and even take them home to cook them with their families.
