At Norton Hill School, a brand-new building is replacing dilapidated, prefabricated huts which had been used as classrooms for many years. The work has been carried out by Bolton-based firm, Seddon, a construction company which has completed several projects for both Norton Hill and Somervale Schools.
Site Project Manage, Rob Obee, has overseen the entire project from start to finish. One of the company's objectives is to support the local communities in which they work and, as such, Rob has worked with his team of tradesmen to raise money for one of the school's charities. Seddon believe that this initiative makes their company unique in the construction industry.
When the school was approached by Seddon about which charity to support, it was decided, 'Time is Precious' would benefit most from their generous donation. Rob and his team raised £104 for the charity and recently presented the cheque to Heather Mulgrew, Deputy Head of Norton Hill.
Rob stated: "As a company, Seddon always tries to support local communities. In this instance, we had heard that the school supported several charities, one of which was locally based. We were thrilled to be helping to support 'Time is Precious', a charity which does a fantastic job in supporting children suffering from severe illness."
Heather responded by saying: "We were delighted to have been asked by Seddon if they could support one of the school's charities, 'Time is Precious', means so much to the students and to the local community. The cheque will be a huge help. On behalf of the charity, we'd like to thank Rob and Seddon for their kind donation."
'Time is Precious' was set up to support children suffering from illness and disability, who regularly find themselves in hospital. The charity also aims to support the child's family who accompany them during these extremely upsetting and sometimes difficult times. For a parent, every minute spent with their child is literally 'precious'.
