A lot has happened over the past twelve months, including the refurbishment of this old classic into an exciting new Café, Bar and Restaurant with a modern industrial look.

Those of a certain generation growing up locally will remember The Greyhound in Midsomer Norton as a place to go out for a drink or two at the weekend as part of the local pub circuit. Well, there’s now New Life in the Old Dog! The venue has been completely refurbished over the past twelve months to transform it in to The Hound Lounge, a family-friendly venue offering something throughout the day – from breakfast to brunch, coffee and cake, lunch, dinner and even a delicious Sunday lunch.

Starting with breakfast (served from 9 am), choose from a bacon sandwich to a full English, eggs the way you like them or smashed avocado. There’s a children’s breakfast available too and a full and varied kids menu which even lets those who are a little more particular choose elements of their meals!

If you are catching up with friends for a morning or afternoon coffee, The Hound Lounge is the perfect venue with new indoor and outdoor seating, serving cakes, local Bristol coffee and hot drinks.

For lunch (from 12 noon until 4 pm) there’s a range of sandwiches and toasties, soup, jacket potatoes, salads, garlic mushrooms and paprika squid rings.

There is a great selection of main meals to choose from, including a range of pizzas, homemade pies and The Hound Lounge’s very own five cheese mac n cheese with a parmesan crust. There’s also burgers using locally sourced meat with all the trimmings (choose from chicken or beef), ham, egg and chips, bubble and squeak, gammon, cod and chips and an all-day breakfast. For vegetarians there is mushroom stroganoff and a vegetable tagine and a good selection of vegan and gluten free dishes too. Look out for the weekly specials. After that, if you’re still hungry, there’s a selection of desserts. And there’s always room for pudding!

If you’re popping in for a drink, you can accompany it until 9 pm with dinner, or pizzas and sides, including nachos, chips and onion rings.

Make Sunday Lunch an excuse to get together with a choice of three meats, or a vegetarian option, served with garlic and rosemary goose fat roasties, honey roasted parsnips, seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings.

General Manager, Fergus, said: “It’s an exciting new chapter for both me and this stunning property and I am looking forward to creating a friendly, relaxed, sociable experience for the community and, in turn, support our local suppliers, producers and charities. It’s a brave move to open in such difficult times, but I very much hope the local community will support us and help The Hound Lounge grow into an asset for the Town.”
