Scout Network is the fifth and final section of the Scouting movement. From the time of Baden-Powell, there have been arrangements for young people who wanted to continue after their time in the Scout Section. During the late 1990s, The Scout Association decided that, to meet the changing needs of young people, there should be two sections for the over-14s: Explorer Scouts for 14 to 18-year-olds and the Scout Network for 18 to 25s.
There are five active Explorer Scout Units in Wansdyke and the Scout Network is being re-launched at a meeting in Paulton Scout and Guide Hall, Plumptre Road on Tuesday, 3rd January at 7.30 p.m. Scout Network gives opportunities to 18-25 year olds who have an interest in Scouting, to enhance their own personal development and have fun.
Scout Network members take part in a variety of activities, which they undertake and organise themselves under the leadership of a District Scout Network Commissioner. The Programme is divided into three areas: Community, International and Adventure.
If any young person between 18 and 25, not necessarily a former Scout or Guide, would like to find out more about Network, they are warmly invited to the above meeting.
