Timsbury experienced a day full of creativity on Saturday, 25th February as 40 eager participants took part in five workshops organised by Cam Valley Arts Trail Group at the Conygre Hall.

Several members of the Cam Valley Arts Trail Group led introductory workshops in Batik, Modern Calligraphy, Screen Printing, Fused Glass, and Lino Cutting and Printing. These classes were instructed by Sheelagh Hetreed, Lucy Empson, Kate Westcott, Jo Eddleston, and Andrew Eddleston respectively.

The hall was buzzing with ideas and designs at one moment and at others there was a peaceful quiet as people concentrated and immersed themselves in learning new skills and being creative.

Caroline Nowell, who attended the lino printing, said: “It was great. Lovely to spend a morning being creative and meeting new people.” Whilst Jo Burden, who joined the fused glass workshop, said: “Fantastic, I can’t wait to see my glass dragonfly emerge from the kiln. Thanks for a lovely morning, very enjoyable.”

Cam Valley Arts Trail Group is an organisation made up of local artists and craftspeople that formed in March 2013 to set up a new annual arts trail for our local area. The aim of the group is to promote the arts and support local artists and craftspeople who live and work in and around the Cam Valley, as well as helping to make art accessible to everyone in the community.

Future events [both at Conygre Hall] in the calendar are our own Spring Exhibition & Sale from 11-5 on Saturday 29th April. Karen George, Chair, said: “This will be a great chance to come and see a large number of local artists all under one roof, and also be able to talk to the artists themselves about their work.” See our website for details www.camvalleyartstrail.co.uk
