An easier one last week – the Mystery Photograph was taken around 1905 of Paulton High Street, featuring Flooks Boot Factory, which was later Ashmans.

Reader, Jeff Parsons, re-calls: “I think you are in the High Street, Paulton, looking down towards the junction of Bristol Road and Bath Road.

“The building on the left hand side of the road is the boot factory, Flooks, I believe.

“By the late 1990s it had become quite derelict and potentially dangerous and a target for vandals.

“One of my last duty calls as Building Control Surveyor with B&NES was to this building after it had been ‘fired’ by intruders.

“The Fire Brigade needed a view as to the safety before sending in the lads. I was living at Bradford on Avon at the time and had just settled down to tea when the call came!”
