Many readers will be aware that for several years High Littleton Scout Group has been negotiating with the Methodist Church, at all levels, to purchase the Church in the High Street; which ceased worship in August 2016. I am now delighted to be able to report that the problems reported in The Journal early in 2020 have been resolved, completion finally took place in November 2021 and that the Group’s Executive Committee are now the Managing Trustees of the property.

The Group has a very dedicated team of Leaders who, between them, currently look after and supervise 95 beavers, cubs and scouts from High Littleton, Timsbury and surrounding small villages.

The Group started 56 years ago and we are all thrilled that we now own our own property. We now have the ongoing task of raising funds to repay the loans we took out and to implement several repair and improvement jobs.

So, any help from the community in this respect would be most appreciated – we haven’t been able to do any fundraising because of Covid-19.

We thank all who have made donations to our funds because of this.

On behalf of the Group, I would like to thank all who have supported us during the past five years, and especially the former members of the congregation who voted in 2016 for the property to be sold to the High Littleton Scout Group.

Mike Walker, Chairman of the High Littleton Scout Group.
