PEOPLE will be feeling the love in Frome this Valentine’s Day as the town council prepares to host a flipping special event.

Planning is under way for a family-friendly pancake race event to be held in Frome Town Centre on Saturday, February 14, to jointly mark Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day 2026.

‘Stacks of Love’ will feature themed crafts and games for all ages and a crêpe stall. Ginny Adams of local theatre company Rare Species will act as compère for the day.

Frome Town Council staff including Tracy Ramsey, Becca Evans and Nykki Mehta are ready and prepared to flip some pancakes to support the day.

Frome town councillor, Andy Jones, said: “Join us on February 14 for this fun, inclusive event in the town centre. As usual on Valentine’s Day, Frome’s iconic Valentine’s lamp will be lit at 5.30pm by new lamplighter Eddie Young, so why not make it a day trip out and go to both?”

At ten-minute ‘waves’ throughout the event, six pancake race contestants will set off from the Blue Boar and race up to the Boyle Cross, flipping their (fabric) pancakes as they go, in heart-shaped frying pans. There will be themed waves for runners aiming for a pancake race PB, children, grandparents and some ‘open’ categories. For those not keen on running, there will be static pancake-tossing competitions at the Boyle Cross.

Stacks of Love will run on February 14 in the Market Place, between The Blue Boar and Boyle Cross. Road closures will be in operation; full details of these and more information about the event will be published soon. The event is sponsored by local employer Andros UK, UK suppliers of Bonne Maman jam and a range of chilled deserts.
