THE Met Office has issued a yellow snow warning for Midsomer Norton and surrounding areas, in effect from today (Thursday, January 8) to Friday morning.
Under the yellow warning, snow and sleet are forecast in parts of Somerset and neighbouring counties, with some accumulation possible, particularly on higher ground. The Met Office warns that these conditions could lead to disruption on roads and public transport, with longer journey times for some motorists and delays to bus and rail services.
Yellow warnings are issued when weather is likely to cause some low‑level impacts, including travel disruption and hazardous conditions on untreated surfaces. People in affected areas are encouraged to check the forecast and consider taking steps to minimise disruption, such as allowing extra time for journeys.
The Met Office advises that weather warnings may change quickly, so residents should keep up to date using official sources.
