Two friends who met via a Facebook Dog Walking Group have been busy organising a charity Dog Show on Sunday, 5th June to raise money for Speringcourt Animal Rescue, which is based in Buckland Down, and the charity, Pets as Therapy, which takes animals to venues such as care homes and schools for therapeutic visits.

Jemma Stedham, from Midsomer Norton and Emily Howell, from Oakhill, will be hosting the day on the field at Farrington’s Farm Shop, where Emily runs her dog grooming business, One Waggy Tail. The event will run from 10.30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and with over twenty stalls booked and a variety of displays, have a go agility, a raffle and barbecue, the pair are hoping for good weather and lots of support from locals.

The first class will begin at 11 a.m., with dogs needing to be registered by 10.30 a.m. The novelty classes include cutest puppy, most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, golden oldie, best pedigree, best cross breed, best trick, best junior handler and waggiest tail! The winners of each class will then go through to the final class of Best in Show.

If you would like to see if your pooch can win a prize, email: [email protected] or call: 07794 237488. Jemma and Emily are also looking for a tannoy system and further raffle prizes. If anyone can help, please contact the number above. If the show is a success, they are hoping it will become an annual event.
