A CARE HOME in Wells is inviting people to attend a variety of community events throughout the course of the summer.
These events, which will be put on by Crandon Springs Care Home, will include music and entertainment, homemade food, alongside information and advice about residential and dementia care.
Through these events, the home aims to connect with local people, organisations and businesses. They would also like to provide a glimpse into the life and care taking place at their care home, as well as provide residents, family friends and guests with a good time.
Some of the events that will be taking place over the summer include:
A fish and chips Friday lunch club, taking place on the last Friday of the month starting from Friday, June 27, at 12.30pm.
Here, Crandon Springs are inviting carers, friends and family and older people seeking companionship to have a homemade fish and chips lunch. The lunch is free, but advanced booking is required.
A cocktails and canapés evening, to be held on Friday, July 4, from 6.30pm.
Here, family, friends and staff can join together for an evening featuring a selection of cocktails, mocktails and canapés, accompanied by live music. Admission is free, but booking is advised.
Dementia disco, to occur on Wednesday, July 23, from 3pm to 5pm.
A successful dementia disco was held in May by Crandon Springs, who are now making it a bi-monthly event for residents, relatives and the wider local community. There will be music, dancing and singing within a relaxed, supportive environment.
The care home sees it as a great way for those living with dementia, along with their families and care givers, to have dun and reminisce.
The summer fair, to take place on Saturday August 9 between 2pm and 4pm.
Crandon Springs are hosting this in their garden, where a BBQ, refreshments, entertainment, games stalls a raffle and a tombola will be available for anyone to enjoy with no booking required.
Meg Cleal, general manager at Crandon Springs care home, said: “These events are wonderful opportunities to connect and meet other people, to have fun, and learn more about our vibrant care home and community.
“We understand that making the decision to move to residential care for yourself or your loved one may feel daunting.
“We want these events to help people see the real care home, so that they feel comfortable and reassured that life can continue to be full and fun as well as safe and supported when they make the important decision to join us.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming new visitors and existing friends to these events, so do please join us.”
Crandon Springs care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which looks to deliver personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Crandon Springs provides residential care and dementia care for 64 residents, from respite care to long term stays.
