Wanting a fun day out for all the family? Chew Valley Animal Park, at the top of Chew Hill, is just that. With an array of animals, entertainment and food options, all you need for a day of adventure is right there.

Sam Rickward and her family were invited to the park to see first-hand what this hidden gem, just a stone’s throw from Chew Magna, has to offer: “Arriving at Chew Valley Animal Park, we met some of the lovely staff who were extremely helpful when getting our tickets and encouraged us to get some food to feed the animals.

“Our family consists of all different age groups so visiting somewhere that ticked all the boxes was a must.

“Before going to see the animals, we got a tea from the Barn Bar, and wow, what a stunning building it is! My words cannot describe how lovely it is.

“Please keep an eye out for the live show events, they are not to be missed! You can even rent it out so you can go and see for yourself how beautiful it is!

“This is a space that just keeps on giving; the benches outside allow you to look over the park and countryside, the ultimate space to relax with food and drink, or just take a moment to admire the lovely views before basking in all the park has to offer.

“Having happily got our fix of tea, we took my niece and nephew to the barn for the small animal handling.

“The staff were so welcoming and friendly, answering any questions we had about the animals; the kids loved the mice as they were very happy, friendly and active.

“Working up an appetite, we stopped off at the café to have some lunch, the food was lovely and just the right sized portions for all of us.

“Full of energy, we decided it was time to visit all the other animals. On our walk around we encountered all sorts of species, all with their own characters.

“The one thing that we noticed very early on was how clean all the enclosures were and how happy the animals looked.

“We had great fun looking at all the animals, with much time spent at each enclosure just watching them walk and play. Going in to feed the goats and pigs was a highlight of all of ours, they were so funny and friendly, it was great to be able to see their different characters the more time we spent with them.

“You can even book experiences with some of the other animals, something we will definitely be doing later in the year.

“As we sat having a cup of tea before we left, we were all raving about the day we had at the Chew Valley Animal Park where we had a fantastic time; so chilled, relaxed, and great fun for us all.

“There was not a thing any of us could fault; the staff, the animals, the enclosures, the food and drink facilities, even the little play park. I cannot put in to words how much this hidden gem had touched my heart.

“It was clear to see how much all the staff enjoy working there and love the animals.

“They are all happy to take time out to talk to you and I love the fact that you can interact with the animals and participate in experiences, which is something you don’t find with many places anymore, especially within such a picturesque setting.

“Please go along to visit the animals and support this wonderful local gem in our beautiful Chew Valley.”
