Christmas this year was forecast to be wet and windy, rather than white, and while we didn't fare quite as badly as other places in the South West, residents of Radstock did wake up on Christmas Eve to find that the town's Christmas Tree had fallen victim to the strong winds.

Various places across Bath and North East Somerset were affected by the blustery conditions with road closures on Christmas Eve in Paulton, Hinton Charterhouse and the A431 Kelston Road into Bath, as well as one lane of Hicks Gate Roundabout.

Chew Stoke Ford was also regularly monitored during the worst of the storms and at one point, water levels were thought to reach 600mm.

As we went to press prior to the New Year, more bad weather was due at the end of the week.
