Trinity Methodist Church

Trinity Methodist Church celebrated its Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 5. Worship was led by Rev Ian Souter, who reminded the congregation of God’s creation and the need to care for it.

A buffet lunch was enjoyed by everyone in the hall following the service.

This Saturday, coffee will be served from 10am, with homemade cakes and good company. The ever-popular Supper and Film evening will take place at 6pm.

Sunday morning worship at 10.30am will be led by Rev David Winstanley.

Tabor Independent Methodist Church

Are you planning a Christmas event and looking for entertainers? Why not give The Tabor Ringers a try; the handbells and chimes certainly provide a Christmassy atmosphere at this time of year.

Our calendar is beginning to fill up so you will need to be quick. Bookings can be made by ringing Barb on (01761) 752177. We are also looking for new members; as Carols are quite easy to play now is the time to join us. Again, have an informal chat with Barb.

Anyone is welcome to join in our Church Services, held fortnightly, or other events – details of which can be found on the Noticeboard outside of our Church in North Road Timsbury.

Churches celebrate villagers’ lives

Churches in the villages of Peasedown St John, Wellow and Shoscombe are giving villagers the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones who have passed away.

On Sunday, November 2 churches will be holding special services where the names of those who have died will be read out and there will also be an opportunity to light a candle for a loved one – along with quiet prayer and personal reflection.

The Leader of all three churches, Rev Matthew Street, said: “Bereavement is a painful experience. This act of worship aims to give thanks to God for the lives of our loved ones and to provide us with an opportunity to receive the comfort and healing we need when pain and sorrow is acute.”

“Christ’s own words “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” are words which can indeed come true in our lives.”
