Following the announcement that the current Paulton postmaster is set to retire in March 2017, B&NES Councillors, John Bull and Liz Hardman, (Labour, Paulton), have pledged a campaign to ensure that the Post
Office retains a presence in the village.
Cllr Bull said: “A number of informal talks with local businesses have considered various options for the future of Paulton Post Office. However, so far, these discussions have not led to a clear proposal.
“It is hard to believe that a village the size of Paulton could be left without a Post Office. The idea that local residents would be forced to travel to Midsomer Norton to use the Post Office is completely unacceptable.”
Cllr Hardman added: “We have received assurances from a representative of the Post Office that a Post Office presence will remain in Paulton. As your B&NES Councillors, we would like to assure Paulton residents that we are doing all we can to keep our Post Office.”
