Bath-based web and graphic designer, Craig Gill, will be swapping his Mac for his trainers next weekend as he takes on the London Marathon for the first time.
Craig, from Timsbury, is taking on the challenge in memory of his grandmother, and will be raising funds for Cancer Research UK. He has set himself a fundraising target of £2,000, and is hoping to get around the course within four hours.
Craig said: “I was disappointed in March when the Bath Half didn’t go ahead, but my attention soon turned to the London Marathon, and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge.
“This is the first time I have run a marathon, but I’m hopeful all the training will help me through the nerves and excitement of the day. I’ve put in the miles over the past few months, running in all weathers – including snow, which I wasn’t expecting when I signed up!
“I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere on the day and that feeling of achievement when I cross the finish line. I’ll definitely be rewarding myself with a cold cider afterwards.”
