HOUSING association Curo has announced early plans to bring new affordable homes and community green space to land north of Lansdown Crescent in Timsbury.

The site is already allocated for housing in Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Local Plan, but has capacity for more homes than previously identified through a more efficient use of land. This will help meet Timsbury’s share of the District’s overall housing growth.

Curo, a not-for-profit housing association, develops affordable homes across the West of England and reinvests any financial surpluses from development into building new housing and improvements to existing properties.

Francesca Topazio, head of affordable development at Curo, said: “We want this to be a development that Timsbury can be proud of. Our ambition is not only to provide new affordable homes but also to create public green space and deliver real benefits for the local community. We’re looking forward to working with residents to help shape what this scheme could look like.”

No planning application has yet been submitted for the site. At this stage, Curo is focusing on community engagement to gather views and ideas from residents before any formal proposals are drawn up.

As part of this process, an in-person drop-in event is planned for November, giving local people the chance to see early information about the land, speak directly with members of the project team, and provide feedback on what they feel should be included in the development.

The event will be advertised locally in the coming weeks, and Curo has said it intends to keep residents updated as the project develops. Residents who would like to receive updates directly can register their interest by emailing [email protected] or by calling the dedicated freephone number 0800 130 3270.
