Radstock Museum were not sure of the year of the photograph, but several of you thought it was taken in the late 1940s or 1950s. They have identified the following names pictured: John Maggs, Arthur Maggs, Gerald Lane, John McKay and Eric Maggs.

Reader Roy Robinson tells us: “This weeks photo was taken outside A.J. Maggs’ motorcycle shop on Radstock Road.

“I can name two people in the pic, the young man with glasses is John Maggs, next to him is his father, Arthur Maggs, proprietor, but I am unable to name the others.

“Arthur was well known in the area, his shop looked like a junk shop, but he knew where everything was and if he didn’t have it in stock, he would get it within a day or so, lovely man.

“He later expanded and had a repair shop on Wheelers Hill, employing at least four men.”

Roy Powell says the final man pictured was Arthur’s stepson, Eric Russell. He says: “I lived by the garage and was best friends with John and Eric.”

A big thank you to Radstock Museum for providing this week’s picture – top. Do you know where this was taken and who features in it? It is a complete mystery to the Museum, so they would love to know if you have any information. We can usually count on you, readers!
