On the evening of Wednesday, 6th March, Year 5 and 6 pupils from nine primary schools across the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership participated in the second annual ‘Speak out!’ public speaking competition.
The children competed in teams of three to put across two sides of a debate on current affairs topics of their choice.
The standard was impressively high, with all children communicating convincingly and effectively, making the task of judging extremely difficult for the panel. Topics ranged from whether we are alone in the universe to environmental and local issues.
The results were as follows: Third – Longvernal Primary School (Should Schools Be Gender Neutral?), Second – Trinity Church School (Are We Alone In The Universe?) with the winners being St Julian’s, Wellow (Should Plastic Be Banned?).
