Final rehearsals are underway at Radstock’s Bath Dance College as students prepare for their upcoming preformance at the South Bank Centre in London this Saturday, 18th June.
The Bath Dance College were asked to perform at the South Bank Centre’s Melt Down Festival by Guy Garvey, lead singer of the band, Elbow, solo artist, DJ and TV presenter, who is Guest Director of this year’s event.
Following a brief from the South Bank Centre, choreographer and teacher, Katie Humphries, has created a contemporary dance piece based around the theme of refugees, which the festival is aiming to address.
Artistic Director, George Hill, who has recently just returned from a West End run of performances, said: “What a great opportunity for the students. It’s an honour and privilege for the students to be requested to perform at such a prestigious venue and event. Katie has worked exceptionally hard with students in the last few months and I am extremely excited to see the audience’s reaction to a topical and moving creation.”
