GCSE STUDENTS at Norton Hill School have produced a strong set of results to follow on from a good showing on A-Level results day.

The results achieved by students came in to be above the national average figures.

Students, parents/carers and staff gathered in Norton Hill’s sixth form centre on Thursday, August 21 to enjoy the collection of the GCSE grades.

Norton Hill have reported that in the subjects of English, Maths and Science, the percentage of students that achieved a grade 4 or higher above 80 per cent.

Grade 5’s and above were equally as strong with the core subjects all being between 60-70 per cent.

Most pleasing is that the gap between disadvantaged children and the rest of the cohort was significantly less than last year and massively impressive when comparing with National data where the gap still appears to be widening.

The school had a number high attainers who were able to secure top grades across the board. These students are: T Young, I Watson Field, L Fletcher, J Crisp, R Sage, H Hopkins and H Smith.

This school believes that this is a testament to all the hard work of the staff, students and their parents/carers in partnership.

Headteacher, Gordon Green said, “It is always an honour and a privilege to share in these moments and I am pleased that the overwhelming emotion was one of positivity”.

“Today belongs to all of those students and their families picking up results that hopefully will allow them to access their next steps.

“I am naturally overjoyed that around 70 per cent of our students will be returning to our sixth form but I wish all of the students good luck for the future whatever their chosen destination.”
