Children at St Julian’s School, Wellow, have re-enacted the Christmas nativity story with help from some farmyard friends!
Advent is traditionally a time of preparation, so children in Reception and Year 1 spent an afternoon at St Julian’s Church recently with curate, Revd Tom Benyon.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “As part of their preparation for Christmas and their Nativity, children were treated to a festive experience with George the Pony (don’t tell him he was a donkey!) and Albert the Ram.
“The children were accompanied by their parents and staff from Wellow Trekking Centre, who kindly brought the four-legged friends along!
“Rev. Benyon re-told the Christmas story in a humourous, yet thought-provoking way, so children could understand what it must have been like to be in the Bethlehem stable over 2,000 years ago!”
Schoolteacher, Mrs Parker, added: “It was amazing! From a quick chat, it all fell very quickly into plan. The Shellard family were fantastic, as was Tom in accommodating us. We had fantastic parent help as well, which made it all work so well – even with torrential rain!”
St Julian’s School is part of the Church Valley Schools Federation with Shoscombe Church School. Both have hosted a range of Christmas events this festive season for children and their families.
