Students and teachers from Writhlington and Mendip Studio School celebrated at Sports Presentation Evening which was a spectacular event of special guests and awards where students were recognised for their outstanding sporting achievements throughout the year.

Head of PE, Alison Weeks, commented: "This is the highlight of our year and there is real hype on the build up to it, we are always in awe of the dedication from the students towards the sports they love and the loyalty and camaraderie shown towards their teammates. The event gets bigger and better every year and the students and their parents/carers absolutely love it."

This year the school welcomed two guest speakers, Sean Gaffney, Navy Officer and 2x Gold winner from the 2016 Invictus Games, Florida and Kate Comber, a Bronze medal winner at the Olympic Distance World Age Group Championships, Beijing, who spoke of her journey to triathlon success and both gave aspirational speeches before presenting the awards.

Year 10 student, Shannon Francis, said: “I was so excited to receive the ‘Sports Participation of the Year’ Award. Mr Gaffney gave an amazing speech and made everyone one realise, that as long as you chase your dreams and believe in yourself, you can achieve anything, no matter what."
