Embracing change and new beginnings
Everything changes, and the last month has definitely been a big change! In April, we said goodbye to our brilliant former Editor, Rebecca Brooks, who gave her all to The Journal over the last eighteen years (wow!)
She led The Journal and The Chew Valley Gazette with such professionalism and will be incredibly missed, not only by Sarah and I, but by everyone she helped and gave a voice to.
Now we are hastily going through a new month (where has this year gone!?), I wanted to take this time to properly introduce myself to you all. I am Lucy Slade and have recently taken on the role of Content Editor for The Journal and The Gazette. I was previously working as the Editorial Assistant for both papers so some of you may have met me, some of you may have spoken to me via email or over the phone and some of you may have never heard of me at all!
I joined the company at the end of 2019, just before the pandemic struck and we had to shut down. During that time, I have managed to meet so many wonderful people and really get to know the local area. I cannot wait to get into the community more and shine a light on the brilliant work that every one is doing.
Sarah and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been so supportive in these times. Here’s to looking forward and embracing the wonderful changes yet to come.
All the best, Lucy Slade
