BATH Tennis Club is hosting a community tennis cancer awareness fundraiser this September.

Following two successful open days in April and July, this third event is hoped to be another action-packed day offering a opportunities to experience the club’s warm welcome, enjoy a day of tennis whilst remembering absent friends.

The not-for-profit community amateur sports club recently lost two well-respected and popular members to cancer; Daniel Money and Sarah Griffiths both passed away in September 2025.

Now the club seeks to commemorate and celebrate their lives and generosity to the club.

Bath Tennis Club has teamed up with Dorothy House, the regional palliative care specialist, and national organisation, Cancer Research UK to raise funds for the hospice and charity.

The festival starts at 12 midday on Sunday, September 13 and offers a chance for visitors to explore the club, meet members, and take part in fun tennis activities including a fun doubles tournament, junior sessions, drills, with tips and techniques, cardio, high tempo, pickleball, with the new addition this year of walking tennis for the less mobile.

Club general manager Andrew Kettle, said: “Although death rates from cancer are falling, around 169,000 people die from cancer in the UK each year making it the country’s biggest cause of mortality.

“Whilst the theme is serious, the day will be special and one of remembrance and celebration as both Daniel and Sarah were highly positive people, enjoyed their tennis and did much for others and the tennis community.

“We are proud to offer a vibrant, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events.

“Our community tennis cancer awareness fundraiser is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s approach to what a supportive community is all about.”
