Last week we asked you to identify where the photograph was taken and if you knew anyone in it. Perhaps it was a bit of a difficult one as no one managed to guess Clutton correctly.

Here is what Eric Brain, who kindly supplied the photograph, had to say: “It was taken in 1907 from the top floor of the Warwick Arms at Clutton and shows the A37 looking towards Bristol.

“The event depicted is of a fête  for Clutton Club. The original  - taken by Miss Collinson, a local pioneer photographer – had the date and “Clutton Club”.

“Sadly, the old Chestnut tree has long since gone and the fete is in the field where  the ‘old folks’ bungalows “Warwick Gardens” now stand. The entrance to Rogers’ Close and Tynings are now to the right just beyond the  ‘coconut shy’.

“My mother, born in 1902, could well be one of the little girls in the picture –who knows…!?”

Thank you, as ever, to Somerset Coalfield Life for supplying this week’s Mystery Photograph.
